Welcome to Hemingways Watamu. This Indian Ocean luxury 5* boutique beach hotel is everyone’s favorite and our guests just keep coming back for more.

emingways Watamu opened in 1988 and represents the original Hemingways in Kenya. The hotel is currently undergoing a significant redevelopment to improve and revive an iconic property to match its newer, sister property in Nairobi and to offer travelers to East Africa a true luxury 5* boutique hotel experience which will be unrivalled on the East African coast.

The hotel is being transformed into a 39 room boutique hotel, all with exceptional ocean views, together with a private residential development on the seafront comprising 21 luxury residences. Substantial upgrades and renovations are also being made to the guest areas; the restaurant, bar and guest reception are being redesigned to create an open plan layout, we are developing a new luxury spa and gym overlooking a fabulous botanical swimming pool and we are adding new water features outside the main restaurant.

We anticipate the re-development project to be fully completed by October 2017 at which time we look forward to welcoming both old friends of Hemingways Watamu and new guests who we have not had the pleasure of hosting before.
