Explore the wonders of East Africa while assisting those who are less fortunate. Eco-resorts’ two-week Volunteer Vacation offers an introduction to the famous safari country while helping some of Kenya’s abandoned children. Departure dates are February 9, September 14, October 12 and November 9, 2002. The price is $2295 per person; a minimum of four people is required.

Volunteers help with ongoing projects, include farming, building, cooking, home repairs, sewing and just spending time with the children. They may also be able to participate in special projects that are needed, such as construction projects and teaching.

Afternoons and evenings are spent exploring the wonders of the Watamu area, which has developed an international reputation for its white-sand, reef-protected beaches that line the Watamu National Marine Park. This Marine Park is Kenya’s oldest and has developed into one of the best snorkeling and dive spots of the world. If underwater exploring is not your style, not to worry! From windsurfing to dolphin watching boat trips, gentle walks to explore the rock pools or simply lying on the beach getting tan, the Watamu beach offers something for everyone.

Several weekend excursions are also on the itinerary, including a flight to the island of Lamu for a night and a two-night safari in the famous Masai Mara.

Included are all transfers, accommodation, meals, activities and excursions stated in the itinerary, unlimited bottled water when at the Children’s Home, African Air Rescue, game drives and driver/guide on safari, park entrance fees and local taxes. Charges do not include international flights, visas, tips, personal purchases, drinks or international departure taxes.
